Elon Musk Replies with Eggplant Emoji to Critic, Internet Gives Him a Standing Ovation

If a picture is worth a thousand words then the modern-day emoji is worth a thousand emotions. As recently showcased by Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk in responding to a critic. While usually Musk has a lot of words to say to his naysayers, this time the Tech-giant, and briefly the richest man in the world, used one single emoji to tell his critic to simply beat it. the Twitter exchange that had legions of Musk-fanboys applauding came after Euro Pacific Capital CEO Peter Schiff made comments about Musk’s business ethics.

“Two weeks after @elonmuskannounced that he spent $1.5 billion of shareholder money buying Bitcoin, #Tesla stock entered a bear market, plunging 20% from its all-time high set on Jan. 25th, and 16% since disclosing the #Bitcoin buy. Not an example other CEOs will likely follow” said Schiff in a charged Tweet.

While Musk could have gone with words to explain his stand, he chose not to engage in a conversation at all. He simply responded with the eggplant emoji.

If you have been around the internet for a while then you know the eggplant emoji is a universally recognisable symbol for the male genitals. This simple Tweet resulted in a Twitter phenomenon known as “ratio’ d”; this means when an original tweet’s reply gets more likes and comments. It happened in this case as well with Schiff’s thought getting 24K likes vs Musk’s response with a whopping 145K likes and thousands of quotes and retweets.

Schiff is known in financial circles for his scepticism regarding Bitcoin and cryptocurrency. Whereas Musk, always ready to be the first in any technological advancement, is a huge promoter. Despite differing views, Schiff did not expect such a childish response from Musk. The phallic-symbol response did not sit well with Schiff and he questioned Musk’s intellect over this emoji-remark.

Musk, who is a God-like figure among his fans, won this battle with an army supporting his Tweets, his business acumen, and everything he does. The Musk followers trolled Schiff endlessly after this debacle.

When it comes to responding to critics, Musk puts his best foot forward.
